The 15th Annual Top O’ The Day Tee-Off brought old friends and new friends alike together at the CrossRoads Golf Course in Carrington, once again to honor water giants Russell Dushinske and Warren Jamison through the golf scramble hosted by the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District (Garrison Diversion) and the North Dakota Water Education Foundation.
Proceeds from the scramble benefit the Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship Endowment in memory of the men and their distinguished service, dedicated leadership and lifelong devotion to water development in North Dakota. In the past, two $1,500 scholarships have been awarded to students attending a North Dakota college or university and whose families have taken an active role in state water resource management. That scholarship has now been increased to four recipients each year, a testament to the generosity and dedication of participants and sponsors.
The 18-hole golf course came alive at 1 p.m. when 132 players on 33 teams teed off, each contending for top finishes and prizes on many of the holes. Generous sponsors filled the course with contests and promotional items. Golfers wrapped up their day with dinner and an awards ceremony held at the CrossRoads clubhouse, recognizing the 1st, 3rd and 15th place teams, as well as winners of contests featured at many of the holes. A score of 58 was the tournament best, sending teammates Kelly and Bill Trautmann, Steve Harrington and Jim Macdonald home with 1st place prizes. “Many thanks are extended to the tournament contestants, generous sponsors and the workers who continue to support the Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship fund,” says Diane Jamison-Richards. “Increasing the number of scholarships given to students is also incredible. It means a lot to so many!”
