MR&I Water Supply Assistance Grant Program Awarded $27,474

The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District’s (Garrison Diversion) MR&I Water Supply Assistance Grant Program provides funding assistance to offset the costs of new customer hookups to a rural water system or district within Garrison Diversion’s member counties. The Water Supply Assistance Grant Program is also in place to aid municipal water systems or districts with extraordinary OM&R projects that will impact the delivery of water to users, introduce health and safety issues, or bring potential harm to other infrastructure if not repaired.

“Assisting with water supplies within our district is an important and fulfilling endeavor,” says Geneva Kaiser, Chairperson of the MR&I Committee. “We know there’s been a need for a similar program, and we’re excited to be able to benefit water users throughout our district.”

In April, the MR&I Committee awarded $27,474 to three water users in the district for residential, livestock and business use.

The following systems had projects receiving funding from the Water Supply Assistance Grant Program:
  • Greater Ramsey Water District - $20,000 for two customer hookups
  • South Central Regional Water District - $7,474 for one customer hookup
As the Water Supply Assistance Grant Program is new, Garrison Diversion’s MR&I Committee continues to refine the program guidelines to better accommodate needs of the users. The program guidelines have been updated and application deadlines are now May 1 and August 1.

There is no deadline on extraordinary OM&R projects, as these will occur on an as-needed basis.
